Program Structure

The MA in Media Communications includes twelve courses (36 credit hours) of which seven courses (21 credit hours) are core and five courses (15 credit hours) are elective courses. The program can be completed in three semesters. Students, who have previously completed an MA/MFA, may finish the program in as little as two semesters. Students focused on research are afforded opportunities for collaboration and participation in workshops, symposia and conferences that occur throughout the year.

Student-led media campaigns are both individual and team-based. The majority involve interactive media, documentaries and photo-based story-telling, three growth areas which offer students limitless opportunities globally. Students have the opportunity to work with partners ranging from businesses and corporations, INGOs such as the ICRC and UN agencies like UNCTAD, ITU and the Human Rights Council.

Advisors and Career Management

The program advisors are deeply committed to students’ needs and career goals. Students are teamed with the best resources available. In particular, Career Services can offer personalized professional development resources and individual job coaching to students with self-discovery, goal setting, personal branding and career planning. Further, students are taught how to target companies for interviews, develop effective cover letters/résumés and master the art of interviewing.
