Student Experience

At Webster Ghana, your experience outside of the classroom is just as important to us as what you learn inside the classroom. Offering an American style of university life means that you will have opportunities to get involved in numerous extracurricular activities and events. These include:

  • Student government
  • Clubs and organizations
  • Community service
  • Leadership development
  • Group travel excursions
  • Social events

The student-driven philosophy of Webster University means that if we don't have something already in place that you would like to be involved in on campus, and you can demonstrate enough similar interest among your fellow students, we will help you to organize something around that interest, e.g., a club or an event!

We don't do this just for the fun of it – studies have shown that students who are involved outside of the classroom are actually more successful inside of the classroom. Consequently, taking full advantage of the Webster student experience can make you a more appealing candidate for future employment opportunities or graduate school.

Leadership development

Are you interested in being a leader? Are there particular skills you would like to gain? Throughout the year, there will be both formal and informal events focusing on topics like networking, leadership styles, and group dynamics. These activities are meant to groom students into leadership positions.

Community service

Over 100 Webster University campuses around the world participate in an annual day of community service called, “Webster Works Worldwide”. This is a great way to become engaged in the community and also become familiar with your fellow students in a different setting.

Travel Excursions

We will organize trips that offer an opportunity to see the country and learn, e.g., Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, two incredible UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This may also include embarking on a courageous stroll on the canopy walk at Kakum National Park, visiting the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, shopping at the National Art Center, traveling outside of Greater Accra, or having a beautiful view of the city from the Aburi Mountains.

Clubs and organizations

The number and types of clubs at Webster depends on student interest because you create them! Perhaps you are a Management student and want to start a Small Business Organization; or you and your friends love movies, so you start a Film Club; or you are a native French speaker and want to start a weekly Language Table. There are endless possibilities for student clubs and organizations to be developed!
