The Webster University Ghana campus administration continues to revise, implement and communicate coronavirus pandemic safety measures to ensure the well-being of the entire university community.
Any measures or news from the previous safety update bulletin, if not addressed below, remain unchanged.
Campus Update #4, January 2021
Webster University Ghana re-opened on Monday, Jan. 1, 2021 following the national
directive to institutions. The campus is executing a hybrid teaching-and-learning
format for the Spring semester (January to May 2021), with full adherence to all COVID-19
safety protocols.
Undergraduate and graduate classes have resumed. Courses are taught both on-campus and virtually using WorldClassRoom and Zoom. Others classes are being taught online. For in-person classes, please note:
- All classes on campus have a maximum capacity of 15 students.
- The University has restructured academic and public spaces to abide by social distancing of two meters.
- Masks are compulsory for anyone entering the Webster Ghana premises.
- All building hallways on each floor have been equipped with hand sanitizing stations.
- Schedules for cleaning and disinfection have been increased.
Webster Ghana students have access to additional resources to ensure success. Reach out to Academic Affairs with any teaching and learning challenges.
The Student Success Center has been instrumental in providing tutoring assistance
and other services.
University events will either take place virtually or in-person depending on prevailing circumstances. The Public Lecture series is resumed in-person on Feb. 11, 2021. All Public Lectures and Masterclasses open to the public will require RSVP. A limited number of participants will be permitted on campus.
Residential facilities have reopened to students with a number of changes, including reduced room capacities:
- All residents must present a negative COVID-19 test before move-in.
- Hand-washing stations have been installed at all entrances of housing facilities as well as hand sanitizer units on all floors and entrances of the facilities.
- Student residents will receive welcome baskets with hand sanitizers, face masks and an individualized set of tableware.
- Dormitories feature prominent signage communicating COVID-19 protocols including social
distancing, mandatory use of masks, temperature checks and regular cleaning.
Webster Student Success Center coaches are available on-campus and online full-time for personalized academic support, including writing assistance and success tips for students to become more comfortable with the hybrid model of teaching.
Counseling services continue to also be available. It is understandable that many students may feel anxious, if not distressed, during this period. Students may book free counselling sessions (Wellness30) available every other Friday each month.
Emergency counselling services may be arranged through Student Affairs.
Visitors are welcome to campus where there is enforcement of a strict “No Mask, No Entry” policy. All guests, including prospective students and parents who have booked a campus tour, will have to go through the required security procedures, which includes handwashing and temperature checks. Anyone registering a body temperature above 38 degrees Celsius will not be permitted entry to the campus. Webster Ghana has officially partnered with Nyaho Medical Center and LEDing Lab for all COVID-19 testing.
Members of the Webster Ghana community are advised to be guided by and abide by these control measures. Check Webster emails for updates and latest developments daily.
Many thanks to every student, faculty, staff and relevant stakeholder for your unwavering commitment to Webster University Ghana through this prolonged period of challenges. Together, we remain unified as a community.
