Webster University students, faculty and staff at the campus location in Accra, Ghana,
observed this year’s Webster Works Worldwide (WWW) with the painting of sections of
New Horizon Special School in Accra.
Webster Works Worldwide (WWW) is the annual community service day for Webster campuses on four continents around the world.
New Horizon Special School is a voluntary, non-profit making and charitable institution in Ghana. The school provides a day school education for children and vocational training and employment for adults who have intellectual disability.
Persons with disabilities like down syndrome, cerebral palsy, visual and hearing impairments are admitted to the school so long as their primary disability is a learning difficulty.
"Today as part of Webster Works Worldwide, students, faculty and staff have joined together to celebrate a day of community service with New Horizons Special School," said Christa Sanders, campus director of Webster Ghana.
"We commend new Horizons as one of the outstanding institutions in Ghana, known for providing excellent support services to children with special needs. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to paint the school’s classrooms and library and clean the general premises. This is our third time participating in WWW and we will continue to engage with diverse communities throughout the country as part of our annual day of giving back to those in need.”
Adelina Martey, Student Affairs coordinator, noted WWW provides the perfect platform for students, faculty and staff to connect with society and create a lasting bond that will last into the future.
