Leonard Suransky, head of department (HOD) for International Relations at Webster
Ghana, is retiring at the end of October 2017, after serving Webster University for
nearly 17 years.
Suransky, who began teaching at the Webster Leiden campus, described his experience over nearly two decades of service as simply “phenomenal.”
Having taught at four network campuses over his tenure at Webster -- including stops at campuses in St. Louis and Thailand -- Suransky described the Ghana campus as amongst the best experience.
“I started as the HOD of International Relations at the Ghana campus,” he said, “and the joy of building something from scratch and seeing it grow has been immeasurable. What is even more amazing about the Ghana campus is how committed, and tightly-knit the staff is...”
Suransky also said he will miss the leadership of the Ghana campus.
“The leadership of the campus director, Christa Sanders, is splendid. She has an energy that she exudes throughout the entire staff. I am grateful to have been able to work with her and so many others at Webster.”
Among many accomplishments at Webster Ghana, Suransky considers his success in establishing a simulation game, which offers students practical experience in the world of international relations, as one of his noteworthy achievements. A farewell party was organized for him at the residence of the campus director where staff, faculty, and alumni of the Webster Ghana IR department wished him well and thanked him for his service to the institution.
